Have you ever noticed yourself snacking on pieces of the foods that you are preparing or taking bites of your meal before or after it’s ready? Now, how about the times you haven’t noticed? Over the course of a week, this meal prepping habit can result in a substantial amount of calories without us even knowing. One way to get a better understanding of it is to try a little experiment...
Place a bowl or container on the kitchen counter in the morning. While you make breakfast, pack lunches or prepare your dinner meal, whenever you take a small bite of something, put another sample of this same amount in the bowl. At the end of the day, you will get an idea of how much food you consumed without potentially even realizing it.
Being mindful during times of eating can help manage portions sizes and overall calorie intake. So when you are hungry, make a point to sit down and have a snack or meal instead of munching when you should be prepping.
